Writes Julie Pallant, "There are lots of videos on YouTube raving about the new AI (Artificial Intelligence) masking tools now available in Adobe Lightroom Classic (and in Adobe Camera Raw). Many hardcore Photoshop users report they are now doing the majority of their editing in Lightroom, shaving hours off their editing time.
'In this article, I take a look at some of the masking features that allow you to make specific selections, quickly and easily. What I particularly like is that there is something for everyone. For users new to photo editing, there are easy one-click options to select subjects, skies, backgrounds, objects and people. Editing can be applied using a brush, linear gradients, or radial gradients.
Portrait photographers will love the new People section where you can choose some, or all, of the people in your image. Options are available to select targeted parts of each person, including their skin, iris, pupil, lips, teeth and hair. The Range tools allow you to apply edits to specific areas based on the colour, luminosity (brightness) or depth within the image."
