I already have a couple of bookings for this tour, based on the experience and reputation of my Turkish photography friend, Mehmet Ozbalci. Mehmet has organised tours for me in Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Uganda. And now this one in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos!
Vietnam will be completely new for me, but Mehmet has done several tours there - and he is the consummate professional. Many of my guests who travel with us go on further trips with Mehmet alone (I must speak to him about that)!
So I am very confident the trip Mehmet has designed for Vietnam will be first-class, from the amazing rice terraces to the sensational Ha Long Bay with its romantic karst hill islands.
The level of physical activity required for this tour is best described as moderate, although there is the option of a motor bike ride up a hill for a great photo of the terraces! There are also ferry rides, village walks and so on - so we plan to be out and about.
And since we’re in the neighbourhood, Mehmet has also put together a short add-on trip to Cambodia and Laos so we can photograph their iconic temples and waterfalls.

Vietnam Photo Tour - 16 days US$11,995
Cambodia/Laos Extra - 7 days US$4995
Prices include the following:
- Accommodation in double/twin rooms in 4 star and 3 star superior hotels.
- All breakfasts, lunches and dinners as per itinerary starting from the dinner of Oct. 3 to the breakfast of Oct. 18 (except for the lunch on October 11)
- Still water at lunches and dinners.
- All admission fees to the historical sites and places to visit in the itinerary.
- Photo guide - Local guides - Comfortable A/C van, driver, gas, parking etc.
- Bottled water in the vehicle.
- Boat rides as per itinerary.
- Halong Bay cruise.
- Arrival and departure airport transfers only on the official start and departure days of the tour (Oct. 3 and Oct. 18, and Oct. 25).
