Although World Photography Day has passed (Monday 19 August), we thought we'd run a few tips from Fujifilm on the theme of capturing “an entire day”. After all, it doesn't have to be world photography day, it could be any day on a holiday or with the family, or just because you'd like a project!

So, here are ‘Six top tips to capture an entire day with Fujifilm’ from Andrew Hall, one of Fujifilm Australia’s X-Photographers.

  1. Plan the start and end of your day around the sunrise and sunset

When capturing “an entire day” you want to have a starting point and ending point to give you a plan of action. What better way to become inspired than shooting the stunning sunrise and sunset at your favourite location.

  1. Don’t be afraid to be spontaneous!

Although it is best to plan the beginning and end of your day with the sunrise and the sunset, you want to also capture the spontaneity of your day with the moments in between. Whatever you may be doing that day, you can capture beautiful images from what might seem like an ordinary activity.

  1. Explore Film Simulations to capture unique images

Embrace your creativity by leaning into film simulations to capture every shot in a unique and beautiful way. One of Fujifilm’s latest releases, the X-T50, offers a Film Simulation dial - a first for the X-Series range with over twenty film simulations - so the ability to change up your shots now lies at your fingertips, quite literally!

  1. Set yourself a theme

If you’re feeling unsure about what to shoot, set yourself a theme of what you could capture throughout the day. Whether that be shooting only images that have a ‘blue’ colour element in them or focusing only on landscapes.

  1. Shoot something you wouldn’t usually shoot

Set yourself a challenge to shoot something that you wouldn’t usually shoot. Indulge in your passion for photography and challenge yourself to a new genre, for example portrait photography, street photography or still life. Have fun with it!

  1. Consider a lens that offers versatility in your shooting needs

Carrying around a full kit throughout the day can be tiring and cumbersome. To make your shooting day even lighter and easier, pair your camera with a lens that can offer versatility in addition to strong performance. My personal lens preference to pair with is the XF16-50mm lens - which is one of Fujifilm’s newest standard kit lenses.
