Available in the next few weeks, Fujifilm has announced its latest X series camera, the very stylish Fujifilm X-M5. Weighing 355 g, and measuring 111.9 mm in width, 66.6 mm in height, and 38.0 mm in depth, it's currently the lightest camera in the X series, yet is equipped with a full range of functions, including subject detection AF that can detect moving objects such as animals and cars using AI, and a 6.2K/30P movie recording function.
The X-M5 is equipped with a back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with 26 megapixels and the latest high-speed image processing engine X-Processor 5. While there are no compromises with still image quality, it's true the X-M5 is aimed at the video segment of the market. Its powerful digital image stabilization is effective not only for minor camera shake, but also for large shaking that occurs when shooting video while walking.
And sound is an incredibly important component of video, so the X-M5 has three built-in microphones and four microphone directivity options: surround, front, back, or front & back, depending on the situation. The X-M5 is also the first Fujifilm camera to feature a steady-state noise reduction function, which reduces noise that continues to sound at a certain frequency, such as the noise from an air conditioner.
In Vlog mode, you can control the camera by touching the LCD screen (although the two dials on the top of the camera are really stylish and useful), and there's a “9:16 short movie mode” allowing users to easily shoot vertical videos which are popular on social media.
Two new bit rates, 8Mbps and 25Mbps, have been added to shorten the transfer time to external devices such as smartphones and the time required to upload captured video directly to social media.
