Released with the Fujifilm X-E5, the new XF 23mm F2.8 R WR is an ultra-compact and lightweight lens with an equivalent 35mm focal length in 35mm format). It's the classic 'street photography' focal length and, in keeping with a street photographer's desire to be inconspicuous, the lens is very short with an overall length of only 23 mm and a weight of approximately 90 g. It is smaller and a stop slower than the 23mm f2.0 model, but intentionally so!

The new lens has been designed to produce high resolution results with Fujifilm's 40.2 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor. The compact size was achieved using the latest lens manufacturing technology, Fujifilm claims, to make the lens thinner and by slimming down the exterior to the absolute minimum. Nevertheless, the new lens is said to be versatile enough to handle standard, wide-angle and close-up work, while at the same time offering high usability and toughness.

The minimum focusing distance is 20 cm, so great for shooting in all kinds of situations, such as food photography or capturing details of flowers and other small objects. The lens uses a full group focusing system, which suppresses aberration variation depending on the focus position, enabling high image quality photography even at close range. And a powerful DC motor achieves high-speed autofocus.
