Simplification and Accents
Driftwood, Mullimburra Point Beach, NSWFujifim X-H2, Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR, f11 @ 2 seconds, ISO 64 Whether judging competitions or helping photographers with their images at workshops, I'm often struck by how better a photograph could be if only it were simplified. When looking up Wikipedia to check the spelling of German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's name, I discovered that the phrase 'less is more' could be traced back well before Mr Rohe - back to Ancient Greece in fact!...
New Gear From Fujifilm
At Taronga Zoo in Sydney on Thursday, Fujifilm released four new products, beginning with a reduced price, improved performance GFX100S II. The 102-megapixel large-format camera incorporates a new sensor, a slightly lower native ISO 80 setting, improved subject focusing and 8-stops IBIS (in camera image stabilization). And at RRP AUS$8699, it is now right in there competing with top of the line full-frame sensor cameras. And there’s no doubt that Fujifilm is wanting its large-format model to be...
Middlehurst Phase One Experience 14-20 August 2024 AU$14,995
Phase One, Peter Eastway and Tony Hewitt are combining resources to offer a special edition of the Middlehurst Art Photography workshop, with a special emphasis on medium format photography and the Phase One system.
Please note, the first week is sold out, so this is the only week left for 2024. However, as Peter and Tony personalise the experience for each photographer, you can happily attend the Phase One week and the experience for you will be exactly the same as if you attended the first week.
Middlehurst is a high end photography retreat and experience for photographers who want to better understand how to use their camera and are ready to learn about the philosophy and aesthetics of art photography and image-making.
The Phase One Middlehurst Art Photography Experience is limited to eight participants. You don’t have to own a Phase One camera because you’ll be given the opportunity to shoot with one provided by Phase One. And you’ll get to edit the images and discover exactly why Phase One and Middlehurst are great matches in photography.
In all other respects, this will be the same amazing program Peter and Tony have been presenting for the past 9 years.
It is likely to be cold outside and the weather is variable, exactly what we want. However, the lodgings are wonderful! Built in 2019, the new ’Quarters’ feature private rooms and modern shared bathrooms. And best of all, we have our own chef - the food is nothing short of stellar!
So, the location is five stars. Food six stars! Lodgings are incredibly comfortable and now the scene is set for you to not only take some great photographs, but receive world-class instruction from two Phase One ambassadors.
If you’re interested, please read on! But don’t delay - places book up very quickly.
