Myth - Bhutan
Over a period of ten years, Peter Eastway has spent several months travelling through and photographing the remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan – the Land of the Thunder Dragon. While a vibrant and modern economy in many ways, arrival in Bhutan is like stepping back in time with many people still wearing traditional dress, their culture infused with Tibetan Buddhism. Giant fortified dzongs cling to cliffs, scarlet-robed monks chant deep within the temples while outside, the faithful turn ornate prayer wheels. Bhutan is a land like no other.
Myth – Bhutan is an evocative treatise using the power of emotive black-and-white renditions to portray an existence and experience otherwise lost to the world. Masterfully interpreted, a selection of the photographs is also reproduced in greater detail to enhance the photographer’s experience.
Myth – Bhutan is one of three in a series. The other two books are Ritual – Bhutan and Life – Bhutan.
