Fujifilm's Ultra Desirable X100VI

Fujifilm's Ultra Desirable X100VI

Last night, I attended the launch of Fujifilm's latest compact camera, the X100VI (or X100 version 6). Listening to Fujifilm Australia's Shaun Mah, I confess I didn't know how successful the X100V (X100 version 5) had been, Shaun admitting that the company had been unable to keep up with demand and in fact stopped taking orders for the camera! So, the accountant in me wonders if you have such a successful product, why stop producing it? Then the photographer kicks in, observing that the new...

Taking Up Bird Photography!

Taking Up Bird Photography!

Giant-petrel, Danco Harbour, AntarcticaFujifilm X-H2, Fujinon XF150-600mmF5.6-8 R LM OIS WR, 1/2000 second @ f8, ISO 640 I've just returned from 5 weeks down south with Aurora Expeditions and on the last voyage, which included the Falklands and South Sandwich Islands, I re-discovered an interest in bird photography. Okay, so I've always enjoyed photographing wildlife, but perhaps I'm better known for landscapes, so it's tongue-in-cheek when I state a new-found attraction to wildlife - and...

Using People for Perspective and Context In Travel

Using People for Perspective and Context In Travel

Early morning in Bukhara, UzbekistanFujifilm X-H2, Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR, f2.8 @ 1/40 second, ISO 3200 How big is the Taj Mahal? How tall are the Rocky Mountains? How small is a Lesser Hamelins Red Breasted hummingbird (and does it even exist)? Whether we're travelling or not, subjects photographed in isolation can be ambiguous for viewers to read and left unsure of a subject's size – and sometimes photographs with this ambiguity are exactly what we want. On the other hand, placing a...

Description

Take your photography to the next level with Peter Eastway and Len Metcalf’s World Famous Narooma ‘Deep Learning’ Photography Workshop.

Okay, okay, so maybe our Narooma Photo Workshop isn’t quite world famous, but we do have photographers attending from all over Australia and New Zealand!

Len and Peter have two completely different ways of shooting, creating and producing their images, but they have the same passion for teaching and photography!

On some photo tours and workshops, the emphasis is on the location and travelling around. While lots can be learned, there aren’t many opportunities to refine post-production or discuss the philosophy and theory of photography. This is where the Narooma Deep Learning Photography Workshop is different. We include structured classroom sessions when we build your skills to capture and create better photographs.

The daily timetable begins and ends with location shoots timed for the magical light at the start and end of each day. In between, you will be stimulated with inspiring presentations and ample time for processing and printing your work. Yes, printing! We will take your files and make prints with Canson Infinity paper and an Epson SC-P906 printer. Pluse there will be lots of time for discussions and critiques of your photographs. Please bring your portfolio along for feedback, if you wish!

The workshop is based in Narooma at the Amooran Motel, sitting on the cliff edge next to the golf course. We have amazing views, a wonderful meeting room with plenty of space for our computers and a printer, and a choice of eating in or eating out as there’s plenty of variety. It’s a great trip - why don’t you join Len and Peter and take your photography to the next level?
