Magical Bhutan & Ladakh 9 - 26 April 2026 US$11,995

Join Peter Eastway and David Oliver on a trip to amazing Bhutan & Ladakh!

Description

Why Bhutan and Ladakh?

Hopefully a flick through the pages of this brochure will explain why you have to photograph the remote and mysterious Kingdom of Bhutan.

And Ladakh - it’s a bit like Bhutan on steroids, sharing many Tibetan Buddhist rituals with an even more dramatic landscape - if that’s possible!

This is one tour to two amazing locations that we guarantee you will never forget.

After 9 visits, I can speak about Bhutan. It’s a country like no other, steeped in history and religion, tucked away between towering mountains, yet with an authenticity that is hard to find in an ever diminishing world.

For photographers, Bhutan is Paradise - or should we say ‘Shangri-la’? There is so much to photograph, from the locals in their colourful dress to the imposing white-washed ‘dzongs’ (fortified monasteries) clinging to sheer cliffs.

Ladakh is similar with its temples and dzongs sitting on high mountains, but the landscape is stark and treeless - and there’s an amazing lake sitting beneath towering mountains that simply has to be seen to be believed. We visited Ladakh for the first time in 2024 - and we simply have to return as there’s so much more to discover.

On the road, we travel in comfort. In Bhutan, our tour has up to six 4WD style vehicles, each with two guests, one guide and one driver. The guides include Peter, David and Namgay. All the drivers are Bhutan locals. It’s a great way to get around.

We take a similar approach in Ladakh, depending on the destination and roads, and we use local guides and drivers. We cross high mountain passes with breathtaking scenery all around - and then down to the magical Lake Pangong.

The 3 to 4 star hotels in both countrires are quaint, clean and comfortable, the food is excellent and there are lots of opportunities to purchase souvenirs.

However, the biggest thrills will be the friendly locals and the photographs you capture while travelling through Bhutan, the land of the Thunder Dragon, and Ladakh sitting in the foothills of India’s Himalayas.

The two trips are designed to work together, starting in Delhi so we can fly first to Ladakh, then back to Delhi and into Bhutan. We return from Bhutan via Bangkok.
